Digital Planimeter Manual
PLANIX 5,6,7 Tamaya digital planimeters are excellent tools to use when measuring irregular-shaped areas on plans or drawings. They eliminate the need for grids, charts, or calculations done by hand. PLANIX 5 and PLANIX 6 measure area in actual square centimeters or square inches. Area shown in plan or drawing must be calculated from this value. PLANIX 7 with numeric keyboard allows user input of scale so area from plan or drawing can be computed. PLANIX 5(polar planimeter) is attached to a weighted base by an arm that allows movement within a circular area. PLANIX 6 and PLANIX 7 (roller planimeters) are attached to wheels that allow unlimited horizontal travel and vertical travel within the limits of the arm movement.

TAMAYA Planix 7 - Digital Planimeter. A simple demonstration of using a digital planimeter.
Once a very important and versatile tool for a lot of uses. From simple area calculation from air photos, maps etc. To construction of a lot of things. Of course it's not used as much today as lets just say 10 years ago when this sample was made. Today computers are overtaking because of convenience and because it's paperless and has the potential to be even more precise.

'Of course' without the proprietary rechargeable battery pack and user manual. But I still believe I've made this year's so far greatest deal:) Manual is available on the internet and I have the skills to make a replacement battery pack which I might very well do in the near future - It's an easy R/C racing style sort of pack in mini size and the industrial size cells needed are no big deal. None the less I like the tool. A great gadget for a true gadget man:).
