How to Use Our PALS Study Materials The Experienced Provider If you are already a PALS Provider and are confident in your knowledge and skills, briefly familiarize yourself with the topics and content in the PALS Study Guide. Once you are ready, take the 40-question PALS recertification examination. ACLS Medical Training provides unlimited re-takes so you do not pass the first time, you can always try again. The First Time Student If this is your first time seeking a PALS certification, we recommend going through the PALS Study Guide very carefully.
The topics and content may be new for you. Since any part of it will be on the exam, you will need to know your stuff. You should be very comfortable with the PALS algorithms before you attempt the certification exam. The PALS practice test is a good way to check your knowledge level before you take the 50-question PALS certification examination.
A Provider with a Lapsed Certification If it has been more than two years since you had PALS certification, you will want to determine which areas you may have forgotten since your last certification. For most people, this will be the medication doses or the algorithms. We have that content in our Learning Center and in the PALS Study Guide. Once you have refreshed your memory, you may be ready to take the PALS recertification examination. If you pass on the first attempt—Congratulations!—you are PALS certified. If you don’t pass, review the PALS study materials again. There you can firm up any areas of weakness and retake the test when you are ready.
Course Overview So you want to become an American Heart Association Instructor? The American Heart Association Instructor Courses teach the methods needed to effectively instruct others in resuscitation courses.
The American Heart Association requires that Instructor be at least 16 years of age for the Heartsaver and BLS Instructor courses. ACLS and PALS Instructors must be at least 18 years of age and licensed or certified in a healthcare occupation where such skills are within the scope of practice. Who Should Attend The Ideal instructor candidate is motivated to; teach, facilitate learning and ensure students acquire the skills necessary for successful course completion. The ideal instructor candidate views student assessment as a way to improve individual knowledge and skills.
Prerequisites All Prospective participants in an instructor Course must. Have current Provider status in the discipline they wish to teach.
Have completed an Instructor Candidate Application. Complete the Core Instructor Course. Have the most recent edition of the AHA Provider Manual for the discipline they wish to teach The following are the steps to become an American Heart Association Instructor.
Complete the instructor candidate application. (please call our office for the form and to discuss eligibility). Must be aligned with a AHA Training Center.
Must have a current instructor complete the instructor potential portion of the form. Complete the AHA Core Instructor class. Complete the discipline specific Instructor Course. Be successfully monitored by the primary Training Center. PALS Instructor Course The course fee is $210.
for 5.9 Contact Hours. And the requires students to have a copy to the Instructor manual prior, during and after class.
